Hi Conder,

I instinctively agree with your conclusion, but WHY are you so sure that it is fake?

there was a topic awhile back that showed the differences between the fake slabs and the real ones and even though I can't seem to find the original thread (didn't look to hard) this one has a few of the areas in question that was marked on the fake slabs so I am leaning towards this being a fake PCGS slab

Thought I'd let everyone know. It is fake. The slab is a very good duplicate. I looked, and found the real slab/fake slab photos online and the slab was very close to real. I don't have real closeups of the coin but upon microscopic examination I could see that there was pebbly surfaces in the field on both sides and bumps on the face that even I (as an amateur) recognized as being obviously wrong. I took it to a coin shop and he verified my hunch. I didn't pay much for it, I'm trying to get paypal to refund my money. I really wanted to "get ripped off" so I could see what we were up against, first hand. So take it from me. Don't buy chinese. Oh, by the way I have made other over seas purchases and been quite pleased.

There's no doubt it's fake. I've circled, in the barcode on the legitimate one, the "22" from the coin number. Look at the other one. No matter what legitmate PCGS 1893 Isabella Quarter you look at the coin number part of the barcode is the same. The one in question is wrong.

isn't there a company that can certify if it's real or not? I thought the company was called CAC, they have a small oval shaped green sticker. Might be worth checking into them.

I will never, repeat, not in this life, buy anything from ebay! I have only bought one thing there, a DVD, and it did not work! I surely don't know enough about the hobby yet to even think about looking there! I would never have even suspected that slab was a fake, and to think I was considering buying top 4 TGP's at auctions! I HATE FRAUD!!

Oh well, back to my safe little coin dealer.
