I already have a nice AU specimen of FS-501 in my personal collection, and I am quite satisfied with it.

I cherry-picked the coin above with the intention to trade it or liquidate it.

Love Mercs but not my series lots of hairlines on obverse would hold me back. Are the IMM actually scarce? I have one in VF and see them on ebay frequently in VF but never in AU or MS coin looks UNC details.

I decided to keep it.

I had to outbid at least one other person to win the auction, so the coin has a notional value of at least that much. It wasn't clearly identified as a rare variety, which increases the value. I will study it, document markers, and probably put it up for sale in 366 days. If for no other reason, than because the prices of such coins are a mystery, and the entire process will provide me with some insights.
