I think the worst thing about these zincs is that they seem to contaminate all the coins they make contacts with. I have never seen so much corrosion of dimes, nickles and all the rest- especially the wheaties- since zincs came out. These zincs are corroding them all!

It may take a certain number of zinc Cents swallowed before the dog or
child becomes ill (the size of the dog or child also factors here), but
I'm sure any pediatrician or veterinarian who's practiced for any
length of time could tell you about the effects of zinc Cents.

Plastic would be all to easy to counterfeit! For the 1974 Aluminum
Cent, a small percentage of base metals were added (for strength),
which would also make it easier to detect counterfeits.

I'd choose copper-plated aluminum for the Cent, myself!
