Very difficult, I've found two 98's and one 2000 WAM after searching about 100 boxes or more.

Thanks to this forum, I now look very closely at any 1998-2000 Philly Cents I get in my change.

I just had a 1998 BU in my change today, which was not a Wide AM,
but even a wheatie won't catch my attention like a BU 1998-2000
Zinc Cent nowadays...

Gee, thanks guys, now I'm having to pay attention to Zinc Cents
(especially with the Log Cabins slowly popping up in my change!).

i would not say it is hard to find them it just takes a lot of work. Looking at each cent you know. But I enjoy it so it does not bother me. My totals are 4 2000's and 2 98's. I have searched a lot of boxes but I have not always looked for the Wide AM.

You need to remember to look at other years for these WAM coins as well. Recently one was discovered on either a 96 or a 97 I forget which. The WAM is something which could exist for ANY year from 1994 to date. So far it has only been found on four years but that is possibly because better than 90% of the people looking only look at those years it has already been reported for.

A 1996 WAM by Billy Crawford. But it was supposedly stolen a couple months ago. I can't find any stories about this on the 'net, except for news of the find in Numismatic News.

But if it was found and verified it doesn't matter that it was later stolen. It means there are 96 WAM's. And I merely maintain that WAM for the other years are POSSIBLE, but if no one looks for them, even if they do exist they won't be found. So check for WAM on all 1993 - 2008 P cents, and 1993 - 1996 D cents. (Before 1997 Denver got their cent dies from Philly so a WAM could have been sent there. 1997 and later Denver was making their own dies and was only receiving the Master Hubs from Philly. If they go a WAM Master Hub all their dies would be WAM that year, and I doubt if Philly makes more than one proof design master hub each year, so I don't think they would mistakenly send it to Denver.

Sorry I wasn't clear. Apparently the "verified" part is questionable. Some believe that the coin was fake (or altered?).

But I do check all years, because as you say, anything is possible.

I have been looking for Wide AM's for about a year now and I still have not found one, I guess some are just lucky.
