Unfortunately... not a starred reverse. Here is a reverse of a genuine S-48. Note the spacing of the RIC in AMERICA to confirm.

Not even close to the correct reverse. Just a quick look at "CENT" gives it away.

Thank you all - I was able to cancel. It was pretty stupid to think that a coin of which maybe 60-70 exist would be listed like that. I just wasn't thinking about how unlikely it was.

@aborman .... I beg to disagee! Even though you failed to hit the bullseye this time, I'd encourage you to keep up the search. Over the years, I've managed to cherrypick a few NC (non-collectible) large cents from dealers. Indeed, many of my best buys have come from dealers and auctions. To desist in your hunt would be "stupid" methinks. Good luck!

Well I'm glad you were able to cancel that purchase. This coin is above my head, so I ask this question about it - what is the 'Starred' reverse compared to a 'normal' one?

Dearborn, there are tiny stars by the denticles. Had to look it up as this is new to me.

Well done getting the sale cancelled.

Is it just me or does the coin in question look to be cast?
