Off and on for a couple years now, I've been trying to ID this medal which I assume is Poseidon and guessing hung from a neck ribbon as a swimming or boating award. Though I would be thankful for any information that would send me down the right track for identifying it, I am also curious if its construction has a particular name associated with it. For its size, it is very light @2.2oz but yet resembles a solid metal medal with what appears to be a thin skin of bronze with what looks like poured wax but has the consistency of a hard plastic fill, visible on its rear. I received it with all the wear and scratches on the back fwiw. First time I've ever seen anything like it and am wondering if it has a proper name associated with how it was made.

Thank you Dearborn. I am going to officially hang my hat on art medal because not only is that likely what it is (maybe for a costume in a high school play about the Iliad), it will be a good use of time to finally put it down and say "Solved"! and move onto more important things. Well done.
