1947 1 Cent Error Or Fake? - Coin Community Forum

biermannn New Member United States 3 Posts	Posted 05/17/2009 10:37 am Has anyone ever seen something like this? I thought it might be a fake but it all appears to be the same color. biermannn New Member United States 3 Posts	Posted 05/17/2009 11:07 am Okay did a little more research it appears to have I guess it's a tiny maple leaf after the date so from what I read that means it was made in early 1948 with the 1947 dies. Is this correct? Thanks. Report this Post to the Staff
1cent Pillar of the Community Canada 1051 Posts	Posted 05/17/2009 4:43 pm Yes, 1947 ML's were struck in 1948 while the mint awaited the new obverse dies reflecting that the kings' title no longer included "Emperor of India" (Ind:Emp), and that's also why the 1948 coins are tougher to come by - the true 1948 dated coins had a short production run.
