I know it has been two posts that I know of one in 2016 and the other in 2018 about a 1942 Walking half no AW , was it an over polish die ? or something else ?

Possibly a " Struck Through Grease" example.
EDIT: Forgot the "W" was raised on the die - polished die would seem the reason.
