1941-S Washington Quarter Large S ?

Some are smoother and more rounded trumpet tails. Brandmeister Pillar of the Community United States 6458 Posts	Posted 01/23/2025 11:43 pm Apparently 503 is the rough hewn S with the triangular tail, and the 501 is the more proper looking trumpet tail. I wonder why other resources do not seem to distinguish the two different types of Large S for that 1941. Or, for that matter, why the CPG itself only distinguishes the two mint marks for quarters, but not nickels. I own several examples of each Large S subtype on 1941-S nickels.
