Wha t is it with these Cuds and pre-cuds? they are all located over the wheat stalks and involve the wheat buds in the middle. Did they create a weak spot on the die?

The bottom die was the anvil die - most of the forces from the hammer die striking the planchet were transferred into the anvil die causing most of the stress cracks/breaks.
