I ran across this ebay auction site, and I was curious about the off center nickel strikes. Specifically, the way that these six coins are all approximately the same size off-center strike area, and all aligned the same way to the bottom of Jefferson's bust (and the coin bottom).

Is this something that happens naturally during the minting process? i.e. that the machine will repeatedly feed nickel planchets into the striking chamber far off-center, and they will all be struck in the same orientation.

They were all struck by the same excessively spaced dies against an underlying planchet.

No telling which Mint these were struck at or what year they were struck but this type of striking error is rather common
throughout the history of coins and these all seem to be legit looking. Theoretically there could be 80+ years between the
striking of these off-center coins.
++I didn't see Chase's post before mine, but I don't see how they could be struck by the same die or how you could know that?
