I recently picked up some fifty cent coins from my bank that were in coin tubes. The teller said they came from an older collector.

I was looking at the coins in the 1984 tube and I noticed that some were thinner than others. So, I checked the weights, and they ranged from 7.92g to 8.23g and I was wondering if that is a normal variance range from the documented 8.1g weight. Thanks

The mints variation is based on coins per kilogram so as
long as as a kilogram is within the variation specs, it is within spec.
There can be some coins lighter and some heavier and still be in spec.

And, of course, any wear will make them lighter
