I have my $1 gold coin from 1862 with strange error that I thought might it was a lamination peel or real error! I know most 1862 $1 gold coin valued around $300-350 average. The difference in colour - and the extremely crude attempt at replicating the edge denticles - gives it away. Unfortunately, such damage makes the coin highly undesirable to collectors, reducing the value to bullion value.
