I'm at a quandary of if I should go with Direct Fit Air-tite or the Ring type Air-tite capsules. I've searched the forum and found some older posts but was wondering if any info has changed. Some say the Direct Fit don't always fit and coins can rattle and to go with the Ring type since they provide a cushion. Others say the ring time under a microscope had porous holes in the inert plastic ring that could house unwanted debris and others claim the ring toned their coin on the edges. Most of the CAPS albums I see posted are using the direct fit type, which is the albums I will be using. I wanted to get more input before I commit to a certain type since they are not cheap. I've used the "with ring" Air-Tite holders for decades and not one coin has been toned by the rings. I've used hundreds of the holders

I've used both and prefer Direct-fit for silver dollars and ASEs. Smaller coins (under 30mm) look better with the ring imo. No worries with either type. They've all worked fine for me and the rings are not a problem at all as commens noted.
