Hello, everyone. I have a question about a proof set I just received directly from the US Mint. I'm really new to this, so I decided to invest in some proof sets to start off. All of them, except for one, are perfectly shiny and have good coloring.

The 2024 Proof set, two of the general coins, and one of the 5-quarter sets show bright yellowing near the rim. I've taken a photo of the dime. Please keep in mind that these photos are taken through the hard plastic case they come in. The yellowing color came through nicely, so I wasn't worried about the other details.

What am I looking at here?

Thanks in advance for posting!

It is toning. The lens is not air tight, so coins inside can tone depending on the environment where you store them.

Thank you for the quick reply! Should I call the US Mint to replace them? I just received it yesterday directly from them.

Agree. Unfortunate Toning as described above. It happens.

Send it back. The set is defective.
If you ever wanted to sell it, this would reduce the price.

Is that lens cracked? see the white just under the 'ONE'? It seems to be centered on the yellow toning. That could be your air leak in addition the the outside edges of the lens.
If it is cracked then most definitely send it back for a replacement.
