Just wondering your grading opinions on this Trade dollar please. Also, other than a Numista number, is there any catalogue number for this?

It's a token, don't understand why you are asking for grading in the Canadian coin section. Listed as ON225 in the compendium of Canadian municipal trade tokens. 25,500 were struck. Not worth grading, one recently sold on ebay for about three bucks, can be found in the 3 for $10 bin at LCS A cool keeper so far away from home.

These "trade dollars" are technically tokens, not coins, as there is no government authorization for their issue. The Niagara Falls Chamber of Commerce is a business association, not a government. And they are "tokens" rather than "medals" because they were sold for face value (1 Canadian dollar) and, theoretically, redeemable for that face value (prior to the expiry date) from participating businesses. Of course, the vast majority of them were kept as souvenirs rather than redeemed for goods.

Thanks Sap. I figured they weren't a legit coin. I think mine must have been souvenired straight up, as there is barely a mark on it.
