I was getting ready to post this for sale when I popped it on the scale and realized it weighed 8.55 grams, nearly a full gram heavier than what it should weigh. I understand that counterfeits were everywhere during this time, but wondering if anyone has any thoughts at all on this. My knowledge of counterfeits and evasion coinage is quite limited and any thoughts would be welcomed. Thanks!!

I don't collect Irish coins, but my only book that covers this one in detail (Coincraft 1999) gives a weight range for the 1805 of 8.7 to 8.9g. Allowing for wear, this would make 8.55g about right.
Where did you see the lower weight range?
