There exists a 1915 Lincoln Cent struck on a gold planchet intended for the $2 1/2 dollar Pan Pacific gold piece. I'm trying to find more info and hopefully a picture to post for our forum.

hmm that would be interesting about like the penny with the dime reverse, although different because the penny I am talking about had a different planchet for obverse than the reverse which pretty much hardley ever happens (would say never but cant say that because it did) but exciting the same way to know there is a gold penny out there somewhere. Here are some pictures of the penny with the dime reverse

I'm still trying to find a pic of the gold Lincoln. The obverse and reverse will still look the same as on the normal cents but the blank planchet it was struck on was meant for the Pan-Pac gold piece. The 11-cent piece featured for sale is a "mule": a Lincoln obverse die mated with a Roosevelt reverse die. Ah, to be able to find one in circulation!

Now let all of us imagine a muled Lincoln/gold coin if one exists somewhere! Wowzers !

I wonder if that would be up close to the 33 Double Eagle.
