First time poster here, hoping you guys can help me determine whether or not there's an obverse die clash on my 2024-D Zitkala-Ša quarter. The mirror-like surface makes getting clean images complicated, so I'm attaching several taken from different angles. I'm also including a photo of the reverse for reference purposes, despite not seeing any obvious signs of a die clash on it.

There are 3 groups of markings that caught my attention, but the longer I look at it, the more I see, & the less I believe. So instead of pointing out the suspicious areas & risk causing you to "see things," too, I'm only going to highlight the long, perfectly formed rectangle below the motto on the obverse, which is the part that keeps nagging at me.

I've spent hours searching & can't find any mention of this, & without anything to compare it to, it sorta feels like I've hit a dead end, so I'd truly appreciate any help you can give me!

I have an example of a 2024 Zitkala quarter die clash. As with most clashes, the features are faint and mostly centralized. Most specimens show a squiggle protruding upper left from the book corner, and around Washington's ear. Sometimes there is a bit between the ponytail and neck.

That looks more like something struck the coin. I think I see a bit of metal moved on the rim, which would suggest post mint damage. However, that rectangle doesn't appear to show raised metal around the edge, so it's also possible that it is a strike through. I don't think it's a die clash, though. If it were a clash, there would almost certainly be lots of other identifiable marks from a clash that hard.

To CCF! It's not a Die Clash. Looks more like scratches or gouges. https://www.error-ref.com/die_clash/

Thank you, you've confirmed the exact reasons I initially dismissed it.

What made me pivot & decide to seek your opinions is twofold:

1) Despite not fitting the standard description of a typical die clash, it *does* fit the description of a Floating Die Clash:

- & -

2) The rectangle I highlighted is a perfect match for what I've been referring to as the "sun rays" on the reverse, eminating from near Zitkala-Ša's head

But if you guys say it's impossible, then I guess I'll just chalk it up to a totally random coincidence.

I think the problem you would have with the sun rays theory is that the rays are densely packed. If you struck the obverse die hard enough to leave such a deep mark, how would it be possible to not have impressions from adjacent rays as well?

Just saw your response, Brandmeister. I don't yet know how to reply directly or quote so you probably won't see this, but if you do: thank you, that makes perfect sense!
