Well, it hasn't happened yet, but I think a numismatic first will happen farily soon: the first American sovereign to issue coins in his name while still alive.
Kind of mind bending if you ask me. Even regardless of the numismatic angle.

As I mentioned in the other topic, he is not just an American Pope, he is a a Chicago Pope! He was raised in Dolton, just a few miles from where I was born. I have to wonder if any of my extended family has ever rubbed elbows with him in the past.

Yeah, I read that from an interview with his brother. I guess no one is perfect, not even a Pope. But some of those previously mentioned family members will be pleased.
