This is my wife's coin inherited from her Grandpa. Looks like he bought it in 1980, and hasn't been touched since. I just can't agree with it being a dot. Granted it is well worn, so, could the dot still be distinguished with such wear? Some times I think I see it ever so slightly, other angles, nothing. Is there any other markers for a dot quarter? Here's 3 pics, I'll post some more close ups about dinner time.

Let me know what you think please.

Not a 1947 Dot in my opinion.
If what I think is what they are referring to as a dot, then it is in the wrong position.

Added this photo to show proper location

I'm looking in the correct spot Jimmy. The dot is no where near as noticeable as your pic. Could it have been worn off? Or would there still be evidence of it?

As I said, I had my doubts from the get go. Looks like Grandpa got taken.

I doubt if it is worn off and if it was, then there would be no conclusive evidence of it being a 47 dot.
It looks like there is some sort of a mark to the bottom right of the 7 that might be mistaken for a dot but in the wrong location.
As you said, it looks like grandpa got taken although maybe unintentionally.

I'm with Grandpa. I took the photo above and sharpened it and added contrast, and, voila, there's a white spot where the dot should be. I know, it doesn't look like it's the same place as JIMMYD's photo, but the bottom of the 7 on this photo has lost some length. If you can take a photo at an angle it might reveal the dot better.
Also looks like the 7 is repunched, if that's not damage above it.

The best I could do today. Have another go Terry. Not a repunch 7.

Maybe. Still not convinced. You would think it would be more evident.
