Grade Of This Spanish (Catalan) Ardite Coin

Archraz Pillar of the Community United States 3499 Posts	Posted 05/29/2009 2:26 pm I just got back from a few weeks in Europe. While there I picked up a few of these small, copper Ardite coins. The few that I have all have very nice obverses, yet the reverses with the bust are quite weak. I know that these were crudely struck and were probably dug coins, but I just wonder how they would grade due to the great difference in the condition of the two sides. Archraz Pillar of the Community United States 3499 Posts	Posted 05/30/2009 10:29 am Thanks, manilagalleontrade! I bought it at a coin show that occurs every Sunday in Barcelona. I bought 3 of these. Two 1653s, one of which I gave to a relative, and a 1654. They all have weak busts like this one does, but they are all very different in strike detail and how centered each side is. Is it possible that it was typical for these coins to have one side that was much weaker? Report this Post to the Staff

But beware since there are a lot of dealers who have a ton of fakes (even 8s that have raised rather than incuse chop marks lol), but there are some who are trustworthy and have good stock.
