Greetings to all interested in tokens and coins! I am from Ukraine. For more than three decades I have been interested in only one narrow topic in numismatics, and have been collecting all the information for a long time. And now my goal is to continue research on my favorite topic, in the form of a game. Yes, I am interested in a research numismatic game. I don't sell or buy anything.
I will first try to explain what I want and then get recommendations on how it will be better and more interesting to do for the participants.
Look, in the USA there are more than 50 different states and additional territories on different islands. So I am interested in all the islands in the USA in the sense that you can find that there are different tokens and coins of different types that are tied to some American island.
I collect and search for information and photos of tokens that show any islands with a geographical name, and I do this for each state separately. My topic in numismatics is the world of islands.
And now if this is interesting then tell me how best to create here such a game topic with discussion and display of tokens? Will there be people willing to play here exactly such a game for each individual state?
Ultimately, I want to make the most complete list of all the islands for which tokens can be found in the USA. I have already made such a list a long time ago and I see that it can be turned into a game of geographical-numismatic research together with numismatic enthusiasts.
What do you think about this? How to make it interesting? Hello again everyone!

Your enthusiasm is welcome. Stick around a while and you'll figure out how to manage the game you propose.

Thank you! Before we start this interesting game I would like to discuss what it could be like.

What's the point. The point is that there is geography and different maps and there is a large country, the USA. It has more than 50 different states and each has a special geography and different settlements. And there are also separate islands.
Some islands are inhabited, some islands were only used for mining, other islands have lighthouses, etc. And many of these islands have special tokens with the name of that island.
Or, for example, the city of New York is located on several large islands and around it there are many smaller islands. And in numismatics there are many tokens on which the name of each of these islands is indicated separately.
Therefore, the game I propose is to find out about the existence of one of the islands and find a description or a photo of a token that contains the name of this island. Or show photos of different tokens about this, or about other islands nearby.
Or, for example, we choose one of the states in the USA and find out how many islands there are, after which we begin to look at what tokens or other numismatics exist about these islands.
I have been familiar with all these issues for a long time. There are states in which there are almost no islands, and there are states, for example, Florida or California, in which, on the contrary, there are many different islands with their own tokens.

Let's say we chose New York State, and there's a large island called Staten Island. Now I know that there are about a hundred different tokens with a name, and I show at least one to start. And the next participant can show a photo of another token or comment on the previous one: This is interesting?

I want to tell you more about my hobby. In general, I research tokens on all the islands around the world. But I am especially interested in the different states in the USA. There are members from different states on this forum and this could be an interesting study for everyone.
I know that almost every state has various islands and something from tokens or numismatics on this subject. I will be interested to explore this together with those who live in one of the states.

Let's assume that we started the game "in islands" and we started with the Staten Island token. Let's see what we can do next: we can collect a series of other denominations of the same issuer, we can look at other categories of numismatics on the same island - there are transport tokens, trade tokens, there are Masonic, plastic, shipbuilding tokens, wooden nickels and other types of numismatics..
Or you can go the other way: look at what islands are nearby. There is Manhattan Island and Long Island. And also a number of smaller islands around. And for many of these islands there is a series of numismatics, at least one token with the name. And then on Wikipedia there is a full list of all the islands of New York https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_...York_(state) and you can see what tokens exist further down the list..
Let's start with the simplest thing - we'll collect a selection of different denominations for one issuer:

Here are two options out of three (I can show the third one separately):

I will tell and explain how my game came about.

A long time ago, as a child, I had a box with coins from different countries, and later in 1990, I was a student and decided to collect one coin from each country. Two years later I collected coins from Africa, Asia and South America. At the same time, I began to notice smaller countries, and those that are on the islands. Then I began to think deeply about it.

So, at first I bought coins of those countries that are easily accessible and well known on the islands, every collector knows them. I found them quickly and bought them. Now I will list the ones that I immediately noticed:

Malta island, Cyprus island, Ireland, Iceland, Bahamas islands, Bermuda islands, Aruba island, Curacao island, Netherlands Antilles islands, Eastern Caribbean States islands, Madagascar island, Sri Lanka island, Seychelles islands, Maldives islands, Solomon islands, Tokelau islands, Vanuatu islands, Indonesia islands, New Zealand islands, St.Helena island, Ascension island, Tuvalu islands, Papua New Guinea islands, Fiji islands, Tonga islands, Samoa islands, Cook islands, Niue island, Kiribati islands, Philippines islands, Comores islands, Jersey, Guernsey, and Man islands, Borneo island, Barbados island, Puerto Rico island, Falkland islands, Cayman islands, Newfoundland island, Prince Edward island, Guadeloupe island, Timor island, Lundy island, British Virgin islands, Jamaica island, New Caledonia and PolynesiaC islands, Cuba island, Reunion island, Mauritius island, San Thome and Principe islands, Cabo Verde islands, Trinidad and Tobago islands, Palau island, Tristan da Cunha islands, Azores islands, Madeira island, Canarias islands, Pitcairn island, Turks and Caicos islands, Marshall islands, Saint Lucia island, Grenada island, and several others.

Right now I took an old album with my collection from the shelf and I'm leafing through it, so I'm listing it out of order, but because it's left in the album ..

After I bought all these coins and put them in albums, I took a sheet of paper and wrote a list of those coins that belong to the islands, which I saw in the catalog or that I was told about, and wrote a list of what I lack in order to so that I have a coin of each island. It turned out about 35 items in addition.

And soon other important things came up, I put this list in an album and put the album on the shelf .. And I forgot about it for the next 20 years.

At that time, I didn't know much about the topic that I began to collect, as it turned out now. So I started collecting information...

Let's continue playing. Not far from Staten Island there are many other islands and one small Glen Island, and it is known that there is a token with a face value of 5 cents. And on it there is an inscription N.D.K. This is the only copy known to me from auctions and catalogues. Little is known about this token yet and does anyone know what these three letters mean?

Here is another token from another island in New York. Photo from an auction. Only one copy is known:

Seeley Island Club Inc., Good For 10¢ Little Falls, NY

I looked for this island on the Google map of New York and the maps show that now this island has a different name: Moss Island.
There is almost no information about this token, and I am not sure if I found it correctly on the map. Does anyone know? Does anyone have a catalog of NY tokens to check this?

Here is another example of a token which is also known in one copy. This is a token with a face value of 5 cents from the Van Schaick Island in New York.
The interest of this whole game and the whole topic is not a purchase but the acquisition of knowledge about various subjects of numismatics and about the topic of individual islands in history.

I don't know, I don't have a catalog of New York tokens on exonumismatics, but from auctions I have collected information about five different varieties of tokens for a single Van Schaick Island.
Maybe someone is interested in the catalog? I found three denominations of tokens made of green and red plastic, denominations of 15c, 20c, and 25c. And two more options of aluminum tokens with a denomination of 5c.
It was interesting to notice that only one token out of five has the full name of the island, the other four options only write the abbreviation "Van Schaick".
Maybe you know about other island tokens in New York? Then show photos here. Or comment on those shown in this game if you have information or catalogs. It is part of this game.

I hope that there will be those who are interested and those who will be interested in searches and new research. The only version of the token on which the full name for the island is written, and at the same time the only known photo of this token from auction archives is here: Van Schaick Island, Restaurant, Cohoes, NY

For those who are interested, I can suggest looking at the list of islands throughout the state, and a separate list of islands in New York City on Wikipedia:

1https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_...ew_York_City
2https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_...York_(state)

Sic! Now notice that the lists do not even mention the existence of such an Seeley Island (or such an Moss Island). It's a bit like a scientific discovery...
