I must keep it right this time. I am on vacation in Savannah, Ga. and am finding the P mint Lincoln pennies everywhere! Even in the need a penny take a penny dish at checkout stands. If you are patient, they will be all available and not at the prices currently being offered. Face Value! I post this because I find it a blow to a hobby I started by going through my dad's change every day looking for a coin I did not have. Paying $2 for a penny that is circulating freely is insulting and not how the hobby started for most of us. Good luck.

Alan In beautiful Montgomery County, Md.

I agree on the $2 per penny thing. One guy I "know" on another forum was trying to get $7 per roll for the Log Cabins when they were first released, and I thought that if I'll just be patient and willing to wait a few weeks that I'll be able to get them at face.

I started collecting 50 years ago, and things have really changed.

Back in the middle 50's, I couldn't have imagined $2 for a current cent, or slabbing of current coins, or $800 for an ounce of gold.

My first gold coin was a 1900 Five Dollar coin, BU. Cost me about $20.

Patience in coin collecting is valuable. I saw my first 2009 Lincoln just this week here in southwest MO It was a railsplitter. Don't think paying those high prices are necessary.

I don't have a problem with anyone trying to make money with their coins, but like everyone says, they will all show up eventually in circulation. However if anyone needs a BU copy for their collection, there are numerous CCF members giving coins away in the trade sub forum. This forum a great network to be connected with for trades.
