Hello Numismatic Friends!
I've been collecting since 1989. I started with ancient coins, even wrote the
CoinWorld column about them for a while. I was a part time dealer, mostly for fun, in the mid to late 90s. I stopped collecting and dealing ancients in the early 2000s as the antiquity laws were beginning to change.
But recently, in retirement, I thought it would be fun to collect again. I bought a few ancient coins, but it just wasn't doing it for me anymore.
Then I found medals! I had picked up a few along the way--nice examples of medals with Washington from the 19th century. But I hadn't really branched out. So lately I've been looking at 20th century American Medals--Society of Medalists, Corporate Medals, and particularly NYU Hall Of Fame.
I'm particularly interested in finding collectors who have the original brochures that come with the NYU Hall Of Fame medals. I've tried to buy with those brochures, but so many medals are sold without them that it would be great to trade scans.
Anyway, I'm glad to find the site and the fact that there are actual medal collectors here!
