This is my First Canadian coin that I bought online, hope you enjoy... Info I found about this coin: The type of Sailing vessel on the reverse of this coin is a "Bluenose Schooner", which was also used for fishing.. This coin was likely part of a 1964 Canadian PL (Proof-Like) set sold by the Royal Canadian Mint.

Thank you Errers and Varietys & Hondo. I was very disappointed when I received this Canadian dime. I don't know much about coins, let alone Canadian coins. Anyway, the ad from the seller had a huge image of this coin, I liked the tone very much, and I bought it instantly. Well, I opened the package, , smaller than an American dime!

Quote: smaller than an American dime Actually it is slightly larger. An American dime is 17.9 mm in diameter. A Canadian dime is 18.03 mm in diameter.

Yikes. No one else has said it, but do yourself a favour and research your purchases. Not knowing how big the dime is was shocking. They're beautiful yes, but did you make a good buy? Far be it from me to tell you how to spend your money. Just a heads up, don't get taken as one of those "seen them coming a mile away" buyers. You'll get hosed. Beautiful coins.

Quote: I went by looks instead of researching. There's a mantra around here...buy the coin you like. You did. A little knowledge can go a long way too. Thanks for taking my post constructively. Don't be shy about asking anything on CCF, good folks around here so willing to help the new collector. Have fun.
