A mounted RCMP officer in full dress uniform.
I've been so wrong with these; I'll let my Canadian buddies clue me in.

- Mintages:
Nickel circulation: ~1,000,000
Silver specimen: ~1,000,000 (estimates vary)
- Composition (specimen/silver version):
50% silver, 50% copper (sold in collector sets).

The most popular of the Silver Dollar Specimen Issues 1971-1980. Your 1972 is also included in this set.
These were sold in a clamshell presentation case with a mintage of 904,273, the most in the series.
There were also 119,891 minted for the seven coin prestige sets.
It was Issued to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the RCMP.
Also there were no nickel business strikes issued with the Mountie.

The 1973 Mountie dollar was the first 50% dollar to be included in a prestige set, and also sold singly.
The '71 and '72 dollars you posted previously were issued only as clamshell cased singles.
No nickel '73 Mounties were struck, the other dollar in the 1973 double dollar set was the PEI Centennial nickel dollar.

JimmyD, so you're saying there was a total of 1,0240164 for these RCMP coins minted?
Thank you, JimmyD, & DBM for your very informative insight on this Canadian coin
And thanks to you Errers and Varietys for liking the coin!

Impresive coin for an impressive squad. If you've ever stood beside a Mountie in dress, you know how cool their boots are.
