Found this in an antique consignment shop last weekend for $35 and obviously couldn't resist, anyone have any clue as to who made it or where it would have been sold / given away?

Crazy high and sharp relief on the obverse!

Any information at all, really, would be greatly appreciated!

Marve65, thank you. There's a 1987 type with the same reverse on ebay stating they were from the US Mint, do you know if that's accurate? It seems unlikely to me.

No worries if not!

jbuck, it adds some variety for sure

I can't find any info to confirm that so I can't say either way. Wouldn't be the first time an ebay add has misinformation in it!

Yeah, not a US Mint product.

This is the first round of a set of 15 rounds (1986-2000) made by J. S. Marino Co.

Here's a link to an old WorthPoint listing for the set
