Hey all,

Found this 1971-D JFK in a roll. Not sure what could have caused the weakness around the rim on both sides.

I tend to say PMD but does anyone know of an error that could match this?

At first glance, that seems like maybe some scraping. Possibly a Coin Wrapping Machine scraped through the lettering on both sides, or a slot machine scraped the surface many thousands of times.

However, some mint errors produce weak devices around the rim, such as a thin planchet or incorrect metal stock (which results in a specific kind of thin planchet). What is the mass in grams of the coin to two decimal places?

If you ask about weakness around the rim areas also include a picture of the edge of the coin too - it may be helpful.

Looks like it has seen slot machine or other vending usage.
