All depends on if the Mint held back some the single plating planchets for 2026 circulation minting.

I fully expect to see the cents in the proof sets. Those planchets have a double copper plating specifically for proof striking. My suspicion is those planchets are used for the uncirculated sets as well.

My brother just received a "downsizing" termination letter after 33.5 years of service at the Treasury Department.

As for the other commem coins we're getting, doesn't anyone else feel a little cheated with a rehashing of the 2016 gold designs with a privy mark?
Yes.

They need to scrap those. The 2026 should be NIFC bronze (95% copper), baby!

They need to be bronze, I say. BRONZE!

How about silver for mint and proof sets only?

It should be made out of something that might last another 250 years.

I would not say no to that.

I'm not completely serious but I hear tales of making nickels out of enough toxic zinc to kill almost any toddler and I start thinking about "permanence".

Copper is more appropriate and will last 250 years, too.

We need to get away from expediency because it is far too costly in the long run and sometimes the short run too.
