Metalman Pillar of the Community United States 7123 Posts	Posted 03/12/2005 2:56 pm Hello everyone Many of you know that I have just in the past months become interested in errors and varieties , I have come up on one that I'm having trouble attributing so I turn you and your opinions. 2000-D Lincoln Cent which is about twice the thickness of a normal well struck cent, the rim is tapered to the obverse with the facing obverse rim being totally devoid of cladding, it also has a significant die break (I think it is a die break it almost looks like it laid over the date rather than being integral with it ?)if that makes any sense to anyone ? Please check the pictures,I am not the best at photography but I try I appreciate all opinions !!! If it is raised, it is a die break. As for the coin itself, it is certainly the right planchet as the zinc is showing through. Other than that, I would have to see this coin in person to be able to offer much more. Report this Post to the Staff
Metalman Pillar of the Community United States 7123 Posts	Posted 03/13/2005 1:24 pm Thanks ND ,, A thick planchet I can understand, but a thick tapered planchet , I'm having problems with, Ignorance is not a fun thing for me!! The part that shows in the picture like a die crack has fallen off the cent, it was in fact laid over the date ? that irritates me!!! it had laid there since 2000 and now its gone Sheeesh, so now all I have is a thick tapered planchet ,,well at least I have pictures of it before it fell off.
