As a veteran change scrounger who's contributed a fair amount to the found money thread

i was recently wondering about you, hadn't seen a post in a while. glad to see you're still around.

these are all great posts. a cow pie penny... a 1917 SLQ that looks BU found in a piano!! what a score! is that a type l or ll?

anyone reading the found money thread already knows my deal. I just read this thread for the first time... and I can't think of anything. wait, there must be something... I suppose the strangest place is in the garbage. I've picked coins and dollars from air-vac canisters and I've picked coins and dollars from the top of the trash pile inside a trash can (i have pix). it still just baffles me that people throw it away. it's one thing to lose/drop cash & coin accidentally, not realizing it & walking away... but to just throw it away or vacuum it out of a car... well, whatever... it provides for the rest of us in various ways, yeah?

@ MrPink2018, Unfortunately the 1917SLQ has environmental damage on the reverse I suppose from being in contact with the poplar wood under the keys. It is a type II.

On another thread I recently posted was the good fortune of my niece who found two gold Indian $2 1/2 coins in the trash.

Come to think of it, I've found coins in trash cans as well.

Same place, two different occasions: (1) $6 in $1 bills; (2) roughly $5 in assorted change. These were big trash cans with no lids that anyone could have readily seen into.

After almost every hard rain storm, I find zinc coins out in my front yard.

I wonder how they got there.

speaking of finding coins in the trash...My uncle owned the local land fill 40 years ago when I was a teenager. My cousin and I would search the trash for treasures, and you would be surprised how often we would find change in the piles of trash. Often in odd differing types of containers. Too bad I was not a collector back then. Have no idea what good stuff we found ...and spent.

Make that 45 years ago lol

Flushed out from a Boeing's toilet. Better that than parts of the fuselage.
