Just want to ask you guys' opinion. Recently I came across an NGC graded coin which I was about to purchase. It is in a slab and fyi it is graded AU details. Upon searching for more details and checking out the coin pictures profile on NGC verification site, I noted that the coin has quite an amount of pitting on the surface.

Here's the attached pictures. Anything suspicious since this is an old coin? Corrosion maybe? Or is just normal for coins in this era to look like that.

I would also like to add that you can also see which looks like blobs of metal on the surface on the first pic near to the column further raising my doubts and suspicion.

Looks to me normal contact marks from circulation. Then the coin gained a patina. Then someone cleaned it and the deeper marks retained the oxidation.

The blob of metal near the M can be from a hole in the die. Corrosion but on the die. Photos are not sharp enough to be certain. Which mint?
