Hi, Is this a coin or bullion? I cannot find it in my catalogs so expect it is bullion. My father bought it while stationed in Italy many years ago and has no recollection as to its significance nor history. Any information will be appreciated!
From what I could find out this was an unoffical series of gold coins depicting famous Indian Chiefs of Venezuela. There are several assayers stamps on the reverse and the coin is marked 900 ley (pure).
echizento; I appreciate the information. Where did you find the info that you have? Any idea of a time frame that they would have been made or anything like that?
Here's a bunch... and for gosh sakes ignore those outrageous Buy It Now prices. 10-15% above bullion value is a fair deal both ways. They come in different sizes/weights, which are marked on the larger sizes. The smallest are like hallmarked.
