Not the 'silver' cannot be missing on nickels, as they are all one mixture of metals - no cladding or plating on them. Collecting since 1972. Learning from then on "Tell me and I forget. JimmyD Bedrock of the Community Canada 21586 Posts	Posted 12/07/2025 09:42 am Not sure what you mean by "oversize wording". They are all struck from the same master die so there is no way the wording can be larger unless it was a variety of which there are none that year. Also nickels are made from an alloy so there can not be a missing layer. As explained, just artificial toning on one side. Also your heading says it is a 2003D nickel, it is a 2003P.
