Thanks guys. I still think it could be a strike through. See the struck through copper and nickel flakes on the reverse? Nickel flakes on; B of pluribus, in the field left of I of America. Copper flakes on; E of dime, bottom of torch, O of one, F of of. Also the corresponding weakness on the other side of the metal buildup on liberty. I can't remember if that weakness is normal for strike throughs or not. Also on the obverse the hair does have that
Struck Through Grease look. I can't tell if it is still on the coin but the haze that is on the coin hasn't showed up there so it might be protected by a layer of leftover oil. Also the coin is VLDS and looks pretty horrible to begin with and the compression of the image makes it a little hard to see, but the coin looks struck through and I am wondering if that greasy metal powder flake buildup is part of the strike through and if it would be considered retained. But it might be too hard to see with my images honestly. I will update you guys with pictures of other dimes from the roll and possibly some closeups of the buildup/material I think could be a strike through.
Edit: The spot I said was a nickel flake strike through in the field next to I of America is actually just a toning spot my bad but everything else is in line.
