Hello! Recently purchased this coin in a large cent book and it was placed in the 1891 Small Date slot... but I have my suspicions.. Is he a small or large date? Also, any tips to safely remove all the gunk? FYI the green in the pictures isn't that heavy - when I compressed the pictures at added all of the green for some reason.

That is the Large Leaves Large Date variety.
The 9 gives it away.
You can try soaking it in pure acetone for about 24 hours.
That should remove at least some of the gunk.

After you do the acetone get some Verdi-Care that will conserve it better.
