Hello,

I happened to find in my coin jar a 1989 D Penny, and weighed it on my digital scale and it displayed 3 grams (3.1?).

I recently learned that this Penny is extremely rare and would be grateful to know if this is indeed the Penny that I have.

I've included a picture, and have not cleaned the Penny which you can see is not in mint condition. I used the CoinKnow app to take the picture of the front & back.

I'm a newbie to all of this so thanks your patience with me in advance!

Grateful for any help, and will be much appreciated!

Is you scale 2 or 3 place? 0.0 - 0.00? Sometimes on a 2 place it will jump from 2.5 to 3.0

After enlarging your photo your cent shows the characteristics of a copper coated zinc cent.

to CCF.

It looks like a copper plated zinc coin though. I can see many plating bubbles on it.
Can you provide us an image of your scale with the cent on it please?

Unless your scale is accurate to at least two decimal points, it is useless.
Those photos aren't the best but there does appear to have
plating bubbles which would make it a common zincoins.

Well I guess we'll never know. Seems like another "One and Done" poster.
