Out of curiosity, I picked up this 1935
Buffalo nickel on
ebay for five bucks. The letters and some dots of USA have a weird stretched quality to them (particularly the C in America). The bottoms of Five Cents also has odd thick distortion. The letters of EPU have that weird twisted quality. It does not seem to match any established DDRs for 1935. However, it does have an odd similarity to the DDRs for 1936. I could be convinced that the tops and bottoms of letters near the rim have been scraped and then smoothed by heavy circulation, or that the metal did not flow smoothly during striking. What do you think, buffalo variety guys?
