That reminds me of another thread, don't remember who it was. They asked a teller for something and she said she had lots of this and lots of that, and even showed them what she had, but then said she was saving them for herself. In keeping with the topic, I have never searched bills, I wouldn't have a clue. I occasionally check the 1s in my till at work for anything really old, and I think I could ID a star note if one came my way. Other than that, I know nothing.

The first one was the one I was referring to, but I hadn't read the second one yet. I like the ending in the second story better than the first! Thanks, jbuck.

I thought it might be the first one. I found the second one when I did the search, and figured I would share since it had the happier ending.

There are some collectors who collect by Federal Reserve Bank and/or block letter for each series, others who look for fancy serials, others who look for both. I am trying for a Federal Reserve set of 2003A $2 bills, but aside from that when it's ones I'm looking for "defaced" bills as well as bills to enter into the Where's George site. I think coin roll searching is more likely to get you some interesting finds as opposed to searching straps of dollar bills, but I wasn't thinking that the one day I came across a silver certificate in a strap.

John1, thanks for the welcome on the prior page. That's fantastic the you've found so many web notes. Are these current finds? I expect I've eventually find one just have to be patient. Found my 2nd radar last week. Pretty excited about that.

Some guy on here just recently got a $20 with a ...0000127* serial number from a bank. That's a great find.

I'm going to have to try this at some point. I could take my $500 I use for half searching and pickup 500 singles.

I luckly have a job that buys about $1000 in ones a week and I have the time to look through them. No initial cost to me and I get all the cool bills.

I have a $1 that has the serial number of 00100100. Is it a radar, repeter, or a binary or all three? what would it be worth? I picked up a 1928d $2 for $7.50 the other day. It was in fine condition.

That's a nice find and I would love to see a scan of it . I would say it is all three. As far as price that would depend a little on condition and series but definitely more than face.
