Took a bunch of silver down to J&M today, pretty crazy the prices on everything. Joe was half laughing/shaking his head as we were going through some of the stuff.
1967 - $0.25 = $18 1963 silver dollar $90....
Sad to see so much stuff heading to the melt bin, but nice to cash out so many low value coins that were never really worth selling, but at such high prices, they were lined up several people deep when I left. Even some of mint products were multiples of the price paid.
Anyone else been clearing out the duplicate bin?
Strangest offer was on a $100 for $100, he offered $130 on it, I mentioned that it was an ounce of .9999 and he just said they don't sell, but didn't want to take it for scrap (it is in a NGC holder, so maybe didn't want to crack). I like the coin, so kept it. Edited by purelywasted 01/26/2026 7:15 pm

So for the 1967 - .25 melt is about $32 and they gave you $18 would this be a good deal?

I highly doubt he was paying $90 CAD for a 1963 Silver Dollar or $18 CAD for a 1967 quarter. Gatewest in Winnipeg , who is the highest buyer in Canada was nowhere near those buy prices. He is under $80 on 1966 and earlier and just under $15 for a 1967 25 cents . Silver @ $147 and change . The silver refiners are totally backed up for about six more months according to another prominent Vancouver dealer and the top end guys currently can not access overnight financing. Scary times !

Where are you getting $32 from? That would be amazing for FV coins. I can't find any calc/shop that comes anywhere close to that price, especially a quarter that varies between 50%-80% silver

You can "doubt", but that is what the prices were around 9:30 this morning (silver was about $10 higher this morning). 1963-1966 PL Set @$161 SML $157 1966 & earlier was at @$87 per $1FV, silver dollar a bit higher. 1921 US Silver dollars $108 All prices retreated a bit this afternoon. Maybe there is a new "highest buyer in town", J&M is still higher as of a few minutes ago (See picture).

I'm asking because I have a full roll of circulated 1968 - .25 and was wondering what it would be worth?

Are you sure you didn't put it in for a $0.50 piece, just tried it out and it shows $16.05 (or maybe it was not working properly earlier). Either way, if you find someone that is actually paying $128 FV on silver, please do share, that would be an unreal price.

@mcshilling If you can get to J&M, a roll of 1968 is just under $500. Glad I went in today, wish I would have kept what I dropped off in December... but I thought that would be peak silver, to my surprise...

OK I tried again and got the same #'s as you, don't know what I did.
So what should I expect to get for a roll of 1968 quarters ?
Sorry you beat me to it.

I have never needed to mail in to them, but I think they will lock in prices with a contract for buy/sell. https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0...v=1742076643I think you need to call in to confirm. But probably well worth it, especially if you have any more junk silver kicking around, dimes at $8/each, halfs at $40. Send it registered mail and could be a good return...

I tried to sell a RCM pure silver coin set to J&M last week and they only offered me 80% of silver spot price. I didn't sell the set.

@ SML , That is much closer to the truth of what is going on! Across North America the story is much the same . Many small and mid size dealers have NO place to go with Silver as they have run out of assets to purchase . A liquidity crisis is upon us! Remember in ANY market whether it be the Dutch Tulip Craze Oklahoma Land Rush , or the current flaky Silver market , irrational behavior lasts longer than you have liquidity. I phoned around yesterday as we had a few big house calls and a Collector Market to check prices on 66 , 67 and 68 silver that we were offering on . The best offer we got from 4 Vancouver dealers ..10 dollars back of spot was best . This is sort of like having a million dollar house getting crap bid at 750 K take it or leave it . This market is going to end very very badly in my opinion. Think I will keep my liquidity and dive in later for the inevitable blood bath .
