Are-All-Mint-State-2022-Canada-Nickels-This-Mirrorlike?
I found this 2022 beauty in a roll from the bank. Are all modern Canadian five cent coins produced with such a gleaming finish? I know that they are nickel plating over steel. The coin has no cameo, and the relief is low enough that I doubt it's a proof. But it is incredibly shiny for a circulation coin, nothing like the brand new 2025 American nickel to its left. The coin throws back the reflection of my iPad like the 1956 Jefferson proof nickel to its right.

If this is indeed what your coins look like now, aren't they scratched into junk within a year or two?

Yes that's a typical uncirculated 5 cent coin.
US nickels are dull in comparison because they are cupro-nickel in composition. The clad US coins are also duller than their Canadian counterparts because the cladding is cupro-nickel.

Nothing unusual about the bright finish and no, they
are not " scratched into junk in a few years".
