I wonder if the tempering of precious metal spot prices will have any impact on the coin prices in the Mint's April release - now about a week away.

Nope. The silver dollar is $219.95. Other o.75oz silver coins are $219.95 as well. 1oz $25 The Calling of an Engineer is 359.95. RCM greed will be the end of NCLT

Quote: Advance notice of silver dollar commemorating birth of QE II, $219.95 That's a price point that is too high for me for a Silver Dollar. I understand the major escalation in Silver Spot, but at some point, the asking price exceeds my sense of value of the piece. And $219.95 has reached that point! Just my opinion, your mileage may vary...

Quote: And $219.95 has reached that point! Just my opinion, your mileage may vary... I agree - I've reached that point too. For a 3/4 oz of silver this is way past my breaking point. BTW, last year's "The Calling of an Engineer" (1 oz) was listed at $179. This year's version is listed at $359. I'll be passing on that one for sure too!. I'll be spending my money on the CN Tower rolls and set this time around.

@commems; Quote: That's a price point that is too high for me for a Silver Dollar. I am in total agreement with you. It appears that my all inclusive Canadian Commemorative Silver Dollar collection ends this year. Sadly, because it contains so many notable coins. $219.95 for the Special Edition Proof Silver Dollar - 100th Anniversary of the Birth of Queen Elizabeth II (2026) just pushed me over the edge. ...

Totally agree on Silver Dollar price. Let it be CAD 120 or even 150 - I would buy, but not 200+ In generally, when silver was 20-30 for oz, I had no problem to overpay and buy them for 100-150. But now days RCM is asking nearly CAD 300 ... not affordable at all and total pass.

It would be a shame if the Mint's new pricing model caused the end of its flagship commemorative coin series. Hopefully, they are looking at options!
