Two Unusual Pieces Under George III / William IV - Trial Or Pattern?

Szapary New Member France 5 Posts	Posted 03/07/2026 5:30 pm Hello, I recently noticed two rather intriguing objects in a sale currently running at MDC Monaco and I was wondering if anyone here has already encountered similar pieces or experiments. The first appears to be a bronze blank (8.50 g - 26.5 mm) with only the edge lettered incuse: "DECUS ET TUTAMEN ANNO REGNI QUINTO." Most references I can find show plain edges, which makes me wonder whether this might be an edge-lettering trial or experimental blank under George III. The second piece is described as a William IV crown trial struck in lead (1832). The edge is also lettered, but the object remains quite unusual and could perhaps correspond to a technical trial or experimental striking. Pertinax Pillar of the Community United Kingdom 2133 Posts	Posted 03/08/2026 9:23 pm There is a lead pattern of the 1832 crown listed in English Silver Coinage (R7 -1 or 2 examples known) but the auction specimen doesn't seem well struck.
