How do you determine if coin is naturally toned or intentionally toned? I have an 1884 with similar toning on the reverse side of coin. Toning on the obverse side is not circular like the reverse side.

It is not Natural or man made . The proper question
to ask .. is it Market acceptable toning ?
Neither of these two pictured coins are market acceptable
as to colour .
The dollar needs better pics , but appears to be overdipped
and washed out AU details .

Welcome! And a great question. I'm also inclined to believe it was cleaned long ago. Which is not to say it isn't worth anything, rather a bit lower than average.
