Nope, it's just the normal Large Date Cent. https://www.lincolncentresource.com...es/1982.html

This is the one you want to look for. It's the 1982 Denver Small Date copper cent. https://www.numismaticnews.net/worl...t-discovered

Try to find an actual small date.
This will allow you to have an actual small date to compare it to.
My guess is you are hunting the way most people do.
1) Find all the 82 Ds you can
2) Weigh them to find the 3 g coins
3) Then you try to determine if the 3g coin is the small date.

Doing this guarantees you will only be looking at large dates. You will never learn what a small date looks like because you never looked at one.

What you should do is grab the 82s then sort them by large and small dates. Once you see them side by side in hand it will be easy to tell the difference.

That is an excellent recommendation!

I did the same thing with the 1988 Flared G reverse. I built a little heap of 1987 straight FG, and another little heap of 1989 Flared FG. It's just much easier to see the differences when you can compare the two types side-by-side.

I agree this would be a large date copper cent, and in its current state, it is worth its weight in the copper metal only.
