I'll go with this:

This is a 1720 copper Liard coin from the Duchy of Lorraine, minted under Duke Leopold I.

The coins were produced in Nancy, France, during the reign of Leopold I (1697-1729)

How did I do?

* Date: 1726.

* Composition: Copper.

*Significance: Reflects the increasing influence of the Kingdom of France over the Duchy of Lorraine during this period.

*Significance: Reflects the increasing influence of the Kingdom of France over the Duchy of Lorraine during this period.

Lorraine had been under the influence of France since the winding down of the 30 Years War, when they were invaded and occupied for the next 60+ years (1634-1697). They were invaded again during the war of the Spanish Spanish Succession in the early 1700s. It was only a matter of time before their annexation which occurred shortly after the end of Leopold's riegn, in 1738 at the Treaty of Vienna.

The bird at the bottom of the reverse is an aiglon, an eagle chick, but specifically in Lorraine heraldry, one that has not yet either a beak or claws. The Lorraine coat of arms has three of them in a diagonal band:

The OTHER historical significance of the coin is that the man pictured on it was succeeded by his son, Francis Stephen, who married Maria Theresa of Austria, thereby founding the royal house of Habsburg-Lorraine!

One of mine, from 1727 (featuring a defective punch for the letter R used reverse):
