1929 Egypt 100 Piastres NGC MS-63 - Coin Community Forum

StackerBacker New Member United States 33 Posts	Posted 04/14/2026 11:15 pm Hello all, I won the following on a game stream, which normally isn't my bag but it sounded fun so I had to try it and was lucky. I know little to nothing about world coinage for the record. After doing a bit of research I've discovered there is no numista page or GS for a 1929. NGC has no price guide for it. All I've really found out is that it was part of a two year design in 1929 and 1930, and it's possibly a key date with 3k? mintage. Gold melt is a hair over $1100. There are a handful of ebay listings for 1922's but really no recent comps I can find for a 1929 in 63. What do you think I have here? Opinions appreciated. Last auction sale I could find for this coin in MS63 (PCGS): https://coins.ha.com/itm/egypt/egyp...ption-071515 Hammer price $1050 (150% over melt at the time) + $210 commission. Here is a more recent sale of a PCGS graded MS62: https://www.coinarchives.com/w/lotv...a3be5c202760 Hammer price $1400 (about 25% over melt) Small sample size, but it looks like the gold bubble has compressed the premium above melt for this type.
