Hi Everyone, first time poster here. I was wondering if anybody has any information to share about this great medal I got off ebay a few months ago. It is from the 1958 American Numismatic Association convention in LA. Perhaps the theme was "Fiesta De Dinero" since thats what the coin says.

I guess what I'm wondering, is if this could possibly be a valuable collectors item? It is real gold, but I think only 10k g.f., or at least I think thats what the tiny stamp on the back says. Ok, I just scanned it high res and I think it says 1/10-10k G.F. Is that right? So its probably not worth much in gold, but otherwise?

I've looked around on the internet and can't find much about the convention or possibly what this medal might be for - or if they gave them to everyone who attended. I did discover that the back of the coin is stamped with a replica of a Spanish Pillar dollar, which were minted starting in 1732. Any other help would be appreciated!

Yes: 1/10 10 Kt, so it is just gold plated.

However, nice medal, and interesting.

You said that you got it on the 'bay'.

How much did you pay for it?

[sure, a lot of us ask 'how much' not to be nosey, but to learn what stuff is going for.]

Hi, thanks for the reply. I don't remember the exact amount I got it for, but somewhere in the $15 range I think. I think it was a really good deal because it wasn't really marketed as a collectors item or anything like that. It seemed to be a vintage clothing seller in LA that was selling it. I had found it when doing a random search for 'gold medal'.

Have you thought about contacting the ANA for info on the medal?
