I just wanted to share what my Easter Egg hunt brought me
I was hunting for this set for a while, because of the Great Horned Owl coin. The other coins are very nice as well, but extremely hard to catch the alternating frosted and mirror like fields on the birds. The coins are much better looking than the pictures.

Great Horned Owl
Bald Eagle
Osprey
Red-Tailed Hawk

My wife bought me this set a few years ago as a gift. Needless to say they will remain here for years to come! I don't recall how many sets were struck but do know I am a huge fan of the Greathorned Owl and the Redtail Hawk as I used to rehab injured birds for area Conservation Officers and to gain their trust and repect (the birds) is a feeling that is almost overwhelming! But like everything else the Federal Government thinks you need a masters degree in a dozen areas to feed a bird raw meat and take it to a vet for medical care so I got pushed aside! We really had a great system set up in this area but the politicians ended it all.

Very nice coins. They're silver right?

Terry, I'm sorry that you were pushed aside from that bird rehab facility. It's agreat thing to be with animals, especiallyy when you have their trust.

The book says 31,000 sets issued.Terry, that must've been a very nice job.I envy you.The closest I've got to the Great Honed Owl was at a reservation area where we ussualy go.They have a pen there were they keep a few birds of prey,Red Tailed Hawks too. They fly them once in a while in the week-ends when they have shows for kids.
The people caring for the birds there find it increasingly hard to keep them, mainly because the same bs like you said, and they are in dire need of money too.I hope I will see them this year too,but who knows.
The owl is truly amazing, not only the sheer size of it,but the eyes...I think that the design actually caught the eyes pretty good.
